Fun Memorial Day Weekend

Just wanted to leave a short note about the fun holiday weekend us California Crows have just had. On this weekend when we commemorate those who have valiantly died to help ensure our freedom, it's a great blessing to be able to use that freedom to spend time together as a family.

Saturday morning we took the kids to Pixar to watch a pre-screening of Toy Story 3, which was Haylee, Cameron, and Landon's first time watching it. Is that a picture of a 3-story dollhouse in the middle of the atrium in the main Pixar building? Uh... why? This and many more questions of the toy world will be answered in less than 3 weeks...

On Sunday I'm proud to say I took a step forward in my fatherly responsibilities by cooking our first family BBQ in our backyard, after having bought our first BBQ grill just the day before (a little Aussie charcoal grill). Now, I only need to learn the art of how to actually cook a good BBQ.

Today we finished up our fun 3-day weekend with a day at the Concord Kid Fest. This is a town fair that's put on every Memorial Day weekend in Concord. With concessions, kids rides, shows, and many vendor booths with crafts and activities, there's always plenty to do throughout the day. Our exploits included gymnastics courses, a kid's circus imagination show, balloon animals, bounce houses, face painting, carnival rides, a petting zoo, hitting little ducks with golf clumbs, and bringing home pet hermit crabs. Yes, you read that right, we are now raising too little hermit crabs (Haylee and Cameron have promised to do all the work to take care of them, but we'll see...). Parenting never ceases to reach new heights.
