After having her mission papers all completed and sent out to church HQ on Monday, August 28, then just 8 days later her mission call came in! So yesterday when Haylee saw the email, we had to adjust our planning on when she would open it. Eve and I are going to a real estate business event in San Diego from Thursday to Sunday, and had thought the call would come next week, giving us time to property set up a "call opening party". Now with tonight and the rest of our week being busy, Haylee decided yesterday to open the call that night, and invite anyone to join over zoom who wanted to and was able to with just a last minute's notice.
So last night at 8 pm PT at our house, Haylee opened her call. Our immediate family gathered in the downstairs living room with Eve's laptop bringing in zoom participants. About 10 minutes after the hour, just after I helped my parents get on the zoom call, with xx people logged onto the zoom call, Haylee read out loud her mission call... starting with the standard preface the Church puts at the beginning of every call about being called of the Lord, having faith to serve, blessings that will come from doing so, etc. (which sounded longer than what I remembered from my call 25 years ago)...
... and read that she is called to serve in the Billings, Montana, Mission!
Everyone is so very excited for Haylee! She said that she had prepared herself mentally for being called to a foreign speaking mission, but was very relieved and happy to be called to a states-side mission that is English speaking. And she is to start her home MTC training on October 16, which is less time than she thought she would have to prepare :). Eve and I are so proud of our daughter for making such an important decision and commitment and know she has many wonderful blessings and experiences in store for her because of it.
