Haylee's 5th Birthday
Party time! Yesterday we celebrated Haylee's 5th birthday (she actually turns 5 tomorrow, on Oct. 12th). A few weeks ago we asked Haylee what she wanted to do for her birthday, and she said she wanted a birthday party at the park. So that's what we did. Yesterday we put on a birthday party for her at Baldwin Park in Concord, and a bunch of Haylee's friends from school, church, and from our culdesac came to her party. This was really the first time we threw a birthday party for her where we invited more than just the family and neighbors. There were 14 kids and 12 adults total, and so it was quite an ordeal for us to plan and carry out. We had pizza and cupcakes to eat, played games, and then opened presents. I was in charge of doing the games, which was really fun to do with so many kids (Hint: when you're the keeper of the prizes and candy, then you can easily persuade kids that age to do anything you want). We had great weather and everything turned out really well. Haylee and the other kids had lots of fun. We got Haylee a camera (an old one, so she can be free to use it without us freaking out), and a bike, since she's already too big for her other bike (she learned to ride a bike this past July). Even with all the planning, running around, and stress from making sure that everything worked out well, I really had a fun day. Seeing Haylee have so much fun with looking forward to the party and then at the party itself playing with her friends and opening presents was a real treat for Eve and I.
