Birthday Fun

The string of birthdays have begun for the boys in our family (Mine was yesterday, Cameron's is on the 31st of this month, and Landon's is on April 11th). For my birthday, we had planned to go down to Modesto to do some go-carts and mini-golfing with Beth Anne and Gordon, who were planning on making a trip out there for the weekend to see Gordon's family. But because of weather reasons, they were not able to come to California after all, and so we decided to find something indoors to do at the last minute.

We'd never been to the Chabot Space & Science Museum in Oakland, so we decided to go there and have a new adventure. It was a really fun and interesting place for the whole family. There are lots of interactive displays and projects for kids, and the shows we saw in the 360 degree dome theater were fun (the dome ceiling is the movie screen).

The fact that we're still "living" in a hotel while the repairs are being done to our house (it sure is a mess over there...) made for a rather distinct birthday. Being together as a family is what made it enjoyable, though, despite our unique circumstances. We had dinner and dessert at Fenton's (the "Fenton's Special" was a whole lot of ice-cream and sherbert goodness...). And Eve and the kids got me a fantasy drawing book and Dragon Age 2 for the PS3. Then we ended the night watching some Avatar (as in "The Last Airbender" cartoon, not the blue-skinned-natives movie...), and "put the kids to sleep" by watching Secretariat (which was pretty good given that I don't care much for horse racing).
