It wasn't always a certain thing if we were even going to have a group theme to our family costumes this year. This last month has been a whirlwind of ups and downs as we are in escrow to close on a new house to move to... more on that in a later post! But because of time constraints we didn't think we would do a family costume idea this year... until two weeks ago when some friends of ours from our ward (who do fantastic home made costumes every year!) asked if we wanted to join with them in doing a trolls theme this Halloween after the characters from the Dreamworks movie, Trolls. While I instantly hesitated due to having not seen nor been interested in the subject movie, I did recognize the creative potential of doing trolls. Add to that the fact we were not already working on costume ideas for our family, we happily accepted and hustled to make costumes (Eve doing the bulk of the work).
It turned out to be a lot of fun! For reference, these are our characters: Eve - Moxie Dewdrop, Trent - Biggie, Haylee - DJ Suki, Cameron - Branch, Landon - Creek, Waylon - Prince Gristle.
Part of why our friends, the Muhlesteins, asked for us to join their trolls theme, was because their little girl, Annabelle, and Waylon are best friends and the idea was to have them be trolls that are a couple in the movie.
We are thankful we got to dress up this year and had a fun time with our friends. Incidentally, our kids had enough dress-up fun for our ward party last Friday, and they got enough candy, that they decided they would rather stay home Halloween night to do fun things at home rather than go trick-or-treating... to Eve's and mine great surprise!
