After often feeling like it would never come, today we are finally the proud owners of a new house for our own family to live in! We are excited to be moving into a newer house (12 years old) that has over twice as much living space as our current home. When we bought our old house almost 11 years ago, our original plan was to only stay in it for 3 or 4 years tops before upgrading to a larger house... that plan obviously didn't happen. And although we have wanted and needed a bigger house even since Landon was born over 8 years ago, various factors have delayed us from being able to upgrade before now.
A few interesting tidbits about the house:
- just a block away from our old one! Yes, I wanted to move closer to work, so I was expecting to cut the distance a little more than that... but a house like this any closer to Emeryville is prohibitively expensive.
- 5 bed / 3 bath plus a bonus room. We will only be using 4 rooms as bedrooms for our family, so Landon and Waylon will be sharing a room, but at least Haylee and Cameron will have their own rooms. And 3 full bathrooms will be glorious compared to the 1.5 bathrooms we have endured.
- built by a friend of ours in the other ward that meets in our church building. We found out during escrow we know at least 5 of the contractors who worked on various aspects of the house interior and exterior.
- the backyard is a lot smaller than at our old house, but that means less yard to maintain!
